Assets and Expertise
Pam Ryan is President/CEO of Commercial Ventures and has 28 years experience selling businesses in the US and in Canada . She is also an accomplished public speaker, facilitator and motivator.

Marketing and customer relations play an integral role in Pam's successful career. This expertise was initially fostered through the management of several US companies in Phoenix , Arizona , which provided experience in marketing, strategy and business development. Her expertise expanded to incorporate market research and feasibility studies, which were vital to her success as a partner in a concrete construction company and later as a Business Broker.

Pam has a proven background in corporate planning - in management positions, as an entrepreneur and selling in businesses in the US and Canada . This expertise was showcased when she pioneered the concept of business brokerage in Canada by launching Canadian Business Brokers in 1985. She founded her current company in 1996 where she continues to sell businesses as well as consulting on acquisitions, mergers, evaluations, restructuring, planning exit strategies and maximizing their goodwill.

Pam is a noted public speaker and has drawn attention for her speaking engagements with groups such as Savoir Faire Professional Women's Club, Women in Leadership, Whole Women Ministries, Corporate Conferences, the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and other organizations.

Leadership
Exceptional leadership and motivational ability is the key to current success and is demonstrated in Pam's career accomplishments. She actively promotes the tenets of honesty and integrity in the accredited business brokerage course she has taught for the Calgary Real Estate Board since 1994.

Awards
Pam was recognized as a Woman of Vision in the category of Business and Entrepreneurship in 2002 by the YWCA of Calgary and was nominated for the prestigious Joseph L. Rotman School of Management ( University of Toronto ) Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2003.

Philosophy
Pam always strives to give back and make a difference in the world by changing lives somehow for the better.  She supports many charities and non-profit organizations, plus she is the founder of Savoir Fair Professional Women's Club, Westside Adventure Group and Women Extraordinaire.  When the opportunity arises she takes the time to mentor others, giving sound advice in all areas of their lives based on her own experiences, successes and failures.  Her favourite quote is “Success is failure turned inside out!" Becoming an empowering person involves both who you are and what you do.

Gil Miller, Financial Manager/Bookkeeper

Gil's long business career includes current bookkeeper and financial manager for Commercial Ventures since 1996. He has also worked in the capacity of bookkeeper and financial advisor for Hypower Fuels, Artec Manufacturing, Kingsway Transfer and other businesses. Gil prepares personal Tax Returns for a number of clients, offers part-time bookkeeping and sets up corporate books in Quick Books or Simply Accounting programs.

Karen Black, Associate/Business Broker

Karen has over 8 years experience in small business management, marketing and sales and over 15 years experience in sales and customer service. Karen moved to Alberta from Manitoba in 1994 following the completion of her BSc.

After 4 years developing and coordinating the marketing and sales strategy for a nationally recognized organization, Karen embraced 18 months of international travel before returning to Canada to pursue her own entrepreneurial goals. Over the following eight years, Karen enjoyed success from her own business endeavors through the acquisition and expansion of an existing business as well as the establishment of a second smaller business. During that time, Karen also co-established "Women Investing Together", creating a venue for women to learn about investing through the sharing of information between members and guest speakers. Karen is an avid outdoor person, supporting conservation initiatives and volunteering significant time to a local not-for-profit organization.

Karen has always embraced the philosophy that any job worth doing is worth doing well. In her current role, Karen applies her philosophy, business experience and attention to customer care and detail to provide a service that is deserving of all clients. Karen is personable, attentive and motivated to assist all of her clients and does so in a confident and competent manner. She upholds her responsibilities with honesty and integrity and looks forward to doing so for many years to come.
